Search Engine Optimization has been around for quite some time now and it’s safe to say that it’s here to stay. It’s become a very crucial part of web development by being a key component to ensure businesses have a strong digital presence.

It’s also constantly evolving which can make keeping up with SEO changes a lot more challenging. This type of integration can be time consuming and go very in-depth, but the rewards of the outcome are worth it.

Let’s dive into some ways you can change and improve your SEO game that offers mighty and easy wins.

Saying Goodbye to Keyword Stuffing

There was once a technique that companies would use called black-hat keyword stuffing. It’s a technique that adds SEO rich words to a website, but hiding the text or coding in the keywords so they aren’t visible. Companies used to use this technique for multiple reasons such as keeping the design of a layout clean, or not properly inputting these keywords into web copy. But Google has eventually caught on to keyword stuffing and has since adjusted its algorithm.

Websites that still stuff keywords into their web pages now drop in ranks which causes lower visibility and traffic. Google will now prioritize and reward sites that use proper keyword placement in their web copy.

Quality Over Quantity

Similar to keyword stuffing, websites will rank lower if web pages are overloaded with keywords and are poorly written. It isn’t about how many keywords you can squeeze onto a page, but about the quality of the content. Google will prioritize web copy that is well-written and informative. It’s also in Google’s best interest to make sure users are being directed to websites that have high quality content and that are reputable.

The main goal of quality over quantity is to write copy that a user will find interesting and will search for, and with main keywords used a healthy amount of times so that search engines decide its SEO rank.

A good rule of thumb is that a specific keyword should not appear more than once per 200 words of copy or it should appear once or twice on the page, either in the title, headers, or in the body.

Refreshing Old Content

Refreshing old content can produce fast results, but it still needs to be done with intention.

Blog posts, for example, are already indexed, and updating them with fresh and relevant content will produce faster results than writing a new blog post. The key to success for this isn’t just making minor tweaks and changes, but enough of a rewrite that Google’s algorithm can pick up on the fact that value has been added to an older page.

This can also be a beneficial time to update featured images, check links, and add any new and relevant information. Once that’s complete, republishing with a new date will have the page be re-indexed.

Give Less Targeted Keywords a Chance

Finding and using less competitive keywords can give you the results you want to see because ranking number 1 for a low volume keyword is better than ranking number 10 for a high volume keyword. Websites can see a great increase in traffic by targeting the less competitive keywords.

There are tons of tools out there like Ahrefs and Semrush that can be utilized to find what keywords rank low, but are still in line with the content of your website.

Improvements to SEO Titles

Understanding the importance of your title tag is extremely important since it’s what is displayed in the Search Engine Results Page (SERP). By making improvements to SEO titles, websites can see fast results being generated.

Some tips for improving SEO title includes:

  • A title tag that accurately describes the content of the page can produce quick results
  • Try using unique title tags for the important and most viewed pages on a website
  • Keep the characters under 60 and the titles will display properly
