Theatre for a New Audience was founded in 1979 by Jeffrey Horowitz and is home to Shakespeare and other contemporary playwrights in New York City. With Shakespeare as its guide, TFANA explores the ever-changing forms of world theatre and builds a dialogue between the language and ideas of Shakespeare and diverse authors, past and present.
2022 – Present
Apart from selling tickets to Shakespeare and contemporary playwrights events, TFANA builds long-term associations with artists from around the world; supports commissions, translations, artists’ residencies, and developmental workshops. Because of their commitment to supporting global artists, they wanted to increase their efforts on donations and subscriptions purchases on their website, along with more robust features their past site was not equipped to handle.
TFANA uses Spektrix as their ticketing platform, but their past website needed an extensive user experience overhaul and redesign in order for their team to fully utilize Spektrix, and for their users to purchase tickets or subscriptions and make donations with ease.
During our extensive discovery phase, we felt it was necessary to integrate our in-house WordPress plugin, MaestroPress, into their past site while we developed their new site in tandem. This allowed TFANA to benefit from the full suite of MaestroPress features while we focused on researching, creating, and developing the best user flow for their new website.
MaestroPress is a plugin that integrates with Spektrix so the client has the capability to add events, subscriptions, donations, and more to their website without the client needing to “hard code” Spektrix into the website. Adding this was a big time saver for their team.
Another major part of the process was focusing on the development of their new Play Package subscription series. This type of subscription allows users to purchase a single ticket to a group of shows at a discounted rate.
Our team developed TFANA a new website with a ton of robust features, customized components, and integrated with Maestropress to facilitate their Spektrix system. The new website allows users to navigate through the website more seamlessly, purchase tickets, make donations, and subscribe to Play packages.
Since the launch, our team has been happy to continue to provide TFANA with web hosting, ongoing support, optimizations, and new features to support their evergrowing Shakespeare and other contemporary playwrights organization.
