How we communicate, interact with one another, organize, and problem solve within the workplace (the list can go on, really) is highly based on our personalities. Some like to have everything in their calendar, while others prefer writing reminders on sticky notes. Some prefer to collaborate and connect with the clients, while others enjoy problem solving on their own. Because everyone has their own unique personality, it can be beneficial (and interesting) to learn about the types of personalities you see in the workplace.
Understanding workplace personalities can create a more productive and harmonious work environment by leaning into the strengths of the different personalities. It’s a very useful way to see how each team member is inherently different, and how collaboration can be done more successfully.
The most commonly known personality assessment tool is the Meyer’s Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Chances are you may have already taken this assessment whether it was in a workplace setting or in school.
There are 16 distinct personality types all with unique traits and tendencies. These 16 personality types are based off of 4 groups with opposing traits to one another:
Combining one trait from each group creates all the 16 types!
Now, we can write a whole essay breaking down all 16 personality types and what their strengths (and weaknesses) are, but we’ll leave that to the experts. Instead, the Sland team decided to take the test and we wanted to share the results! Having this diverse range of personalities and understanding their strengths helps us bring much more creativity, logical thinking, processes, efficient efforts, and better communication to the table. If you are interested in taking the test and/or learning more about the MBTI personalities, check out this site https://www.16personalities.com/.
The ISFJ type is committed to supporting others and sees the value in each team member. Their empathetic and nurturing approach means they excel in interpersonal relationships and they are great at addressing the needs of those around them. ISFJs are compassionate and supportive, bringing positive energy to the atmosphere.
The ISTJ type is logical, loyal, and dutiful. Since they are more quiet and reserved, ISTJs don’t need much management or checkups, but they are dependable and value honor, hard work, and social responsibility. ISTJs are always willing to take on new and challenging tasks by offering their diverse skills and methodical planning.
The INTP type loves to explore theoretical concepts and are characterized by analytical and logical thinking. They are known to analyze complex systems, identify patterns, and propose innovative solutions. INTPs have a craving for intellectual stimulation and excel with creative problem solving, research, and continuous learning.
The INTJ type is a strategic, visionary, and deadline-focused individual that thrives on designing systematic approaches in order to achieve their goals. INTJs always see the bigger picture with their forward-thinking approach and decision-making skills. They are natural visionaries who can take on future challenges with comprehensive solutions.
The ENFJ type is a charismatic, empathetic, and creative individual that needs to have a deep sense of purpose in what they are accomplishing. They have a passion for creating positive change and fostering connections with others and within communities. ENFJs love to lead, inspire, and mentor which make them effective communicators.
We love seeing how the different personalities interact and collaborate, bringing creativity, logic, teamwork, and process to every project we take on!
